Willebroek celebrated two monuments at the end of October: the 65-year-old Vredesbrug and the brass band that became world champion during the closing fireworks for the annual fair. In the meantime, the band has also become Belgian champion for the 20th time.
After shooting the first arrows, Brassband Willebroek played a concert on a ship on the canal with the bridge as the decor.
BBW presented a 25-minute program including the following works: Dundonnell from Hymn of the Highlands (Philip Sparke), Bohemian Rhapsody (Freddie Mercury) and Sing Sing Sing (Louis Prima). In addition to these works, they played another piece with a special meaning for the inhabitants of the Municipality of Willebroek. That was a medley of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike on Stage (created by Frank Bernaerts!), the two of whom are also residents of Willebroek and are one of the most famous DJs in the world. "It's great that we can do this. We reach thousands of people who may not know us yet," says founder Frans Violet.
