biography
Frans Violet, born in 1954, completed his primary and secondary music studies in music theory, trumpet, piano and percussion at the former Municipal academies in Boom and Willebroek.
At the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, he obtained the first prize in music theory and trumpet in the classes of Albert De Keyzer and Emiel Maes. He made his debut as a trumpet player in 1972 in La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra in Brussels. Afterwards he switched to the former BRT Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1984, Frans Violet decided to teach music full-time, primarily as a teacher of brass instruments at the GO! Music Academy of Willebroek.
He taught a HAFABRA course at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven for several years. Since 1993, he has been a teacher of the Saxhorn class at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. The municipal council of Willebroek awarded Violet the title of Honorary Citizen on October 25, 2016.
