biography

Frans Violet, born in 1954, completed his primary and secondary music studies in music theory, trumpet, piano and percussion at the former Municipal Music Schools of Boom and Willebroek.

At the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp he obtained the first prize in music theory and also a first prize in trumpet in the classes of Albert De Keyzer and Emiel Maes. He made his debut as a trumpet player in 1972 in La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra in Brussels. Afterwards he switched to the former BRT Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1984 Frans Violet decided to teach music full-time, primarily as a teacher of brass instruments at the GO! Music Academy of Willebroek.

He taught a HAFABRA course at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven for a number of years. Since 1993 he has been a teacher of the Saxhorn class at the Royal Conservatoire  Antwerp. The municipal council of Willebroek awarded Violet the title of Honorary Citizen on October 25, 2016.
