It’s a yearly tradition for Brass Band Willebroek to go to the bandstand of the Wapenplein in Ostend and open their new banding season. With an enjoyable program they indulged the occasional passersby of conscious listener during a sunny day at the Belgian coast. Lode Violet performed the avant-premiere of Rhapsody for Cornet by Roger Derongé, a composition commissioned for his first solo CD "Rise" together with Kevin Van Giel (euphonium) and Brass Band Willebroek.
It promises to be once again a well-filled banding season with the recordings of a solo CD "Rise" on August 25 and 26, the International Tattoo in Willebroek the 2nd of September, a concert in Rotselaar on September 29, our annual Soloist Concert with David Childs - who will give the European premiere of Gregson's Euphonium Concerto - this time at CC Ter Dilft in Bornem on October 27, a try-out BBBC at the 18th of November and of course the Belgian Brass Band Championships on November 25 in Heist-op-den-Berg where Willebroek will defend their national title!
