Brass Band Willebroek is proud to present Kevin Van Giel as new Principal Euphonium. Kevin is no stranger to conductor Frans Violet. Under his direction, Kevin took his first steps into the world of brass band by joining Young Brass Band Willebroek.
Later he joined Brass Band Buizingen (Champions Division) as tutti euphonium. After eight years of loyal service to BBU, he traded his tutti chair for the solo euphonium chair with Festival Brass Band, where he played for two years. At the request of Frans Violet, Kevin joyfully agreed to fill the desirable position of Prinicpal Euphonium with Brass Band Willebroek.
Kevin is a professional musician. He joined the Royal Band of the Belgian Air Force in 2011 as euphonium player. In addition to that, he is a Master of Science in Industrial Sciences and obtained his Master's Degree for Euphonium with Nick Ost at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, where he still studies Hafabra Conducting with Ivan Meylemans and Jan Van der Roost.
Great support from Nick Ost
Kevin has taken over for Stef Pillaert, who left the brass band scene almost a year ago. BBW and Frans Violet would like to thank Nick Ost for his years of loyal dedication. Nick has pointed out he would like to stay involved and will continue to support the band in the future. Kevin is looking forward to working with Jonas Violet. Together they form the ideal duo to keep the honour of the BBW euphonium section.
