Brass Band Willebroek and Young Brass Band Willebroek, in cooperation with the 'Academie voor Muziek en Woord' (Academy for Music and Drama), will take part in the very first edition of the 'Cultuurmarkt' of CC De Ster. Besides the market stalls, which are used to promote the programs for the new year, there will also be a short performance by Young Brass Band Willebroek.
On Saturday the 20th of September 'CC De Ster' will open the new culture season 2014-2015 in a festive way. And this for the first time, this will take place in the box office room of the old village hall in the 'Van Landeghemstraat'. This previously dull-looking administrative quarter has been transformed into a polyvalent place, which now creates room for a lot of new possibilities. To emphasize the festive character of the seasonal opening, a culture market wil be organized in which all culture organizations of Willebroek are able to show their working and present their new program for the upcoming season. At 14.00 pm, councillor Bradt will officially open the new culture season and, therewith, the culture market. No less than 16 organizations will be present at the culture market.
Art and creative work
There will also be an art and creative work exhibition with works by Mieke Selleslagh, Theresia Simkens, Mark Cloet and Herman De Cuyper, and information about the program of 'CC De Ster' will be provided for those who are interested. Tickets (season or regular) can also be bought at this occasion. During the entire afternoon, the theatre act 'Op handen' will be performed in between the audience and the actors of 'Thumor' will also be present with a special surprise. The art studio will organize a black light painting session in one of the neighbouring areas. Visitors can look up this peculiar art class, filled with fluorescent effects. Mark Cloet, who will portray his works at 'CC De Ster' November through December, will give you a preview of the artistic dialogue that he will have with the sculptures of Herman De Cuyper.
Performances
On stage , nonstop musical performances will be provided. Young Brass Band WIllebroek is scheduled to perform at 14h15, at 15h councillor Bradt will announce the winner of the balloon competition 'Dag van het Park' (Day of the Park), at 15h45 'GOEZOT' (drama department of the music academy) will perform the play 'En maar niet willen sneeuwen' and at 17h a combo of the music academy will take over.
Those who are thirsty can quench their thirst at the 'cultuurcafé' (culture café), located in the box offices room.
At 18h, all market stalls will be closed but you will still be able to enjoy stand-up comedian Nele Bauwens, who will kick off the new season in the music hall.
